Sheepskin for Bub!

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Well, I have to brag. I purchased a sheepskin for my babies cot when she was born. I am totally amazed how it has kept her cool and comfortable in this extreme heat we are having. She just loved it in winter as it kept her cot nice and warm and also very soft and comfortable. I purchased it online at the following website:-

I have just bought another one for my 6year old. She loves it under her sheet as she says it makes her bed nice and soft.

Christmas Shopping with Bub!

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Oh My! I have just discovered shopping with my energetic 11mth old is a total nightmare! She is like a Bull in a China shop…..lol….. You can strap her in the pram and she will extend her arms out sideways to try and grab whatever she can.

Since starting my Christmas Shopping in the last few weeks, I have also noticed how many shops do not allow prams in! Not that I would even try with my bub. My first daughter was totally the opposite. She sat still, did not move. If she got bored, she would just nap or eat. Amazing how different two related sisters can be.

Bad Ebay Sellers!

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

I am having a Vent!! TO all Ebay buyers out there BEWARE of a seller on Ebay called “babyroomart”. Unfortunately due to a bad experience from this Seller I am “Naming and Shaming”. Please do not buy from this seller as you pay and then never see your item. She can be very rude and annoying. I am not the only one she has done this to! Many Ebayers have been caught. Disappointingly, the unreputable account was not suspended, even after numerous complaints. As for Ebay, well they have one rule for the seller and one for the buyer. I think it depends on the day and the weather, who’s side they take. I have not been impressed with their performance on this either.

A few pointers if you get ripped off by an Ebay seller :-

* Report the Fraudulent seller to the Police Fraud Department (in your state).
* Report the Fraudulent seller to the Fair Trading
* Name and Shame as much as you can - “word-of-mouth” is a wonderderful way
* The Taxation Office - they might be interested in someone taking fraudulent money and not declaring etc…….

It is always good for the above departments to have a file/record on this person as one day it will eventually catch up with them.

We need to stand up for our rights and keep these fraudsters at bay!!!

Cooking with the Kids!

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

This is always fun in my house. My kids love to cook and make a mess!! I pick up some cheap packet cake mixes which keep the kids busy and it also makes some yummy treats for the day. Cookie cutters are also fun when making some yummy biscuits.

Kids can also be a great help at dinner time. They can help put the ingredients in and mix.

Here is a nice recipe from my mums cook book we always like to use:-

Yummy Jam Drops

Ingredients
• 125g butter, softened
• 100g (1/2 cup) caster sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla essence
• 1 egg
• 190g (1 1/4 cups) self-raising flour
• Plain flour, to dust
• 115g (1/3 cup) strawberry or raspberry jam
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line 2 baking trays with non-stick baking paper. Use an electric beater to beat the butter, sugar and vanilla essence in a medium bowl until pale and creamy. Add the egg and beat until combined. Sift flour over the butter mixture and stir until combined.

2. Use lightly floured hands to roll teaspoonfuls of mixture into balls. Place on the prepared trays, about 5cm apart. Use a lightly floured finger to make an indentation in the centre of each ball. Spoon 1/2 tsp of jam into the centre of each biscuit.

3. Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes, swapping trays halfway through cooking, or until the biscuits are cooked through and light golden. Remove biscuits from the oven. Set aside on trays for 30 minutes to cool completely.

Always remember that kids need supervision in the kitchen.

First Time Mums over Thirty!

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Congratulations, being a parent is the most difficult job in the world, but also the most rewarding (at times!).

Are there any mums out there like me? I had my first baby at 33 years of age and my second at 38 years of age. Life is so different for us now, but I would not swap it for anything. My time disappears so fast now that I am a stay at home mum to 2 daughters.

The stigma of being a mum over 30 is being erased by all the mums over 30 out there. People say there are some advantages to waiting to have children, including using life experiences and applying them to raising children. You can also be more financially stable at older parents.

The question to ask yourself is :

“is there a right time to have a baby?”

The “Right” time for some women to have a baby may be in their twenties. I agree that physically this is a good time to start a family. You seem to have more energy in your twenties. However more and more women are choosing to start a family later in life. Apart from the physical factors, older women often feel more settled and financially secure .

At the end of the day, the choice is yours. We choose to start a family when the time is right, not what the experts say.
